The Unisex Fisherman's Gansey in beautiful Alpawool - an Alpaca/Wool blend in sizes up to L-XL.
Our Unisex Fisherman's Gansey is a take on the traditional Cornish Gansey with stitch motifs based on various traditional patterns from 19th century Cornwall as collated by Mary Wright in the 70s for her historical portrait of the industrious knitters supplying local fishermen with exceptionally warm and practical wool clothing through the 18th and 19th century. We've pieced together various stitch motifs to create our take on the traditional Gansey in two beautiful yarns. WIth a boxy shaping and long rib hem, it's a really flattering piece in 50% wool and 50% alpaca in a classic mid grey melange.
50% wool, 50% Baby Alpaca from Peru.
Oeko Tex certified - Class 1. RWS Certified.
Baby alpaca fibres are super soft and lightweight. It is known for providing super insulation due to the microscopic air pockets in the fibres, therefore it keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The same air pockets make the fibres feel as light as air and yet the fibre is very strong, meaning it lasts longer than most other similar fibres like wools, cashmere and silk. With care, alpaca knits become heirloom pieces that you will pass down through the generations.
Sizes: S/M, M/L, L/XL
Measurements taken flat across the front of garment unstretched. The knit is quite stretchy.
S-M - Length from shoulder to hem 52cm, Chest 49.5cm, Sleeve length 52cm
M-L - Length from shoulder to hem 56cm, Chest 53cm, Sleeve 57cm
L-XL - Length from shoulder to hem 62cm, Chest 58cm, Sleeve 59cm
N.B: Alpaca fabric behaves differently to wool and tends to ""drop"" a little with wear. The wool alapaca blend is a more structured firm knit. Meaning this jumper will stretch to accommodate larger sizes than the measurements suggest.
